James Baldwin, prophetic and provocative as ever, talking about race, imperialism and identity. This was recorded in London in 1969, but like all of his speeches, it's equally relevant today.

Nina Simone singing about the Jim Crow laws and how that time had passed....Jim Crow laws were state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States. All were enacted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by white Democratic-dominated state legislatures to disenfranchise and remove political and economic gains made by blacks during the Reconstruction period.
Dead and hopefully buried. Very simple protest song, much like a freedom anthem.
